Based on what you have learned about software product lines and what you learned from the assessment of your current and desired software product line state, you can now put together the long-term vision of software product lines in your organization. What is your ideal success story?

Your team uses this vision to promote and gain acceptance of the software product line approach, so the vision must contain information for both your evangelist(s) and your maven(s). The long-term vision also helps with project planning activities such as effort estimation, resource allocation, and deliverable milestones.
